For Zoe and Harold, this renovation was more than just a kitchen upgrade, it was the final piece in a long-awaited return home. After years overseas and two more living in their Brighton house to truly get a feel for it, they were ready to reimagine the heart of their home. Zoe came to our showroom with a clear vision and a deep understanding of what she wanted - a modern kitchen that would marry elegance with ease, style with substance.
Collaborating with Jordan & Kirstin, the transformation unfolded naturally. Their design brought together a timeless palette, understated charm and clever functionality, all while honouring the period character of the home. The result is a coastal-meets-Hamptons space with a modern twist, centred around a generous island bench and finished with thoughtful details throughout.
Soft, layered materials were key. Polytec Boston Oak laminate brought warmth and texture, while a blend of Polytec Malabar and flat profile cabinetry in Gossamer White created softness and subtle contrast. The Shaker-style profiles were refined and contemporary, complementing the home’s character without overwhelming it.
The standout feature is the porcelain island bench - wider, brighter, and now able to comfortably accommodate four to five people. Topped in Porcelain Factory Enviro 12 Cascade and finished with LED strip lighting, the island is the family’s new go-to zone for cooking, gathering and evening wind-downs. Zoe also cleverly positioned the Hafele Hailo Euro Cargo ST60 bin within the island, aligning storage with workflow for a space that simply works.
Inside the drawers, Blum TANDEMBOX antaro drawers and ORGA-LINE container sets offer superior organisation, while floating shelves break up the cabinetry with softness, creating opportunity for playful display. And it continues on up… Full-height porcelain splashbacks add a dramatic vertical element, celebrating the home's high ceilings and amplifying natural light.
Appliances from E&S, including a full suite from NEFF, ensured the kitchen not only looked incredible, but performed just as well. The hardware selection was also deliberate - Passio Bevan Solid Brass Handles in Bronze provided the perfect warm finish, acting like jewellery adorning the crisp cabinetry. From the tight cluster of T-bars on the pantry to soft curves on drawers, each piece adds quiet luxury.
Just beyond the kitchen, a previously unused nook was turned into one of the home’s most practical additions, a bespoke wall unit designed to store coats, laptops, linen, glassware and more. Jordan’s clever configuration now acts as a bar, study nook and mini mudroom all in one, complementing the kitchen both visually and practically.
Zoe describes the end result as “not overdone, just perfectly designed.” Harold loves the clearances, the easy flow and how well the kitchen supports how they really use the space day to day. And for us? It’s another reminder that thoughtful, collaborative design has the power to transform not just kitchens - but the way people live in them.
