Setting the standard for Modern Coastal luxury
This project is particularly close to home. So close, in fact, it is our home.
When you work with individuals to achieve their dream kitchens, you can become accustomed to exciting appliances and beautiful designs.
For us, we needed to understand how it felt to be in our client’s shoes. To feel the smooth finish of our cabinetry and see the end product in our home.
So we planned a complete transformation. The result?
A beautiful three bedroom, two bathroom townhouse with stunning contemporary design in every corner.
Let’s start at the very beginning…
Hampton is a special place for our family. Not only did Jordan grow up there, but its relaxed atmosphere and friendly neighbourhood character was a big draw. We wanted the house to mirror this, and so we started our plans.
Beginning with a blank canvas can be daunting, especially when you want to build your happily ever after. It’s difficult to picture the end result when you try to take your first steps with any renovation.
But where do all good stories start?
The kitchen.

When planning commences, it’s best to make the kitchen your first point of call. Whatever style and layout you choose. your kitchen will reflect how you want to calibrate the rest of the house. AND help you TO create that all-important flow that makes every room feel utterly yours.
When designing the heart of our home, we knew it needed to be contemporary, coastal and above all functional.
Handleless Blum drawers created a sleek appearance and provided silky-smooth operation for any organisational needs. The Polytec Thermolaminated Calcutta (vertical groove) profile brought in the sense of the coastal, relaxed atmosphere we were looking for. We combined this with the Polytec Manchester profile, both in classic white for a spotless look.
But even the cleanest of slates needs texture.
The WK-Quantum Quartz QuantumSix+ porcelain benchtops added an effortlessly natural, marbled finish. These were seamlessly continued onto the splashbacks by The Porcelain Factory, creating a luxuriously bright and airy feel to the room.
When it comes to durability, porcelain is king. Remarkably resistant to heat, chips, scratches and stains - it’s practically indestructible.
Exquisitely beautiful yet tough as nails. Talk about a combo.
A drop of coastal warmth.
With clean white cabinetry, it was essential to bring in that breezy, balmy feeling we love about Hampton.
Adding George Fethers Timber Veneer in Vibrant Oak Cool White was the finishing touch. The natural colour is reminiscent of driftwood, emanating the authentic seaside spirit. It beautifully encased the Sub-Zero fridge, wine fridge and freezer, all with stacks of room for groceries, treats and tipples.
The dark glass facade of the Sub-Zero wine fridge mirrored the black and silver Wolf oven and cooktop. Having different tones reflected throughout the kitchen helps to weave all of the individual elements together.
Adding Pittella handles in Tumbled Brass created a luxurious finish that complimented the stunning bronze Articolo Fizi Pendant lights. Articolo know how to adorn interiors with lighting that’s just right. These champagne-esque pendants act as the dazzling jewellery hanging in our home.
Treasures are in every corner of the design, even if you can’t see them…
Plenty of hidden gems...
On the superbly minimal surface of the kitchen, you would never know what intelligent solutions lie beneath.
Within each soft-close drawer, there are neat Blum utensil and cutlery dividers. Brilliant for keeping things in an orderly fashion and, most importantly, easy to grab when the kitchen is a hive of activity. The storage savvy doesn’t stop with the drawers, nestled just behind the gorgeous white cabinetry is the Hafele Hailo Euro Cargo ST45 bin.
With accessible compartments and a retractable lid, keeping things tidy has never been so easy. Even better? Its functionality is turbocharged behind Blum Servo Drive drawers, an ingenious system that opens with one touch.
So if you have sticky hands, all it takes is a tap of the knee, hip or elbow to have full access to your bins. Goodbye, pesky fingerprints!
The overhead cabinets also have this savvy mechanism which means complete ease when picking your perfect cocktail glass.
If you’re an avid cook (or just like to get creative in the kitchen), the Hafele Salsa Pro spice drawer tray is a brilliant solution to jumbled up cupboards. It keeps things in their place, so you never mistake your cinnamon for your chilli powder.
This works hand in hand with the Hafele Kesseböhmer Tandem Pantry. Every ingredient is organised to be ready for all those delicious recipes you’ve been saving.
Start as you mean to go on.
With the kitchen design done, the rest of the house was aching for a look-in. Using the styles and materials already established, we began to turn our house into a home.
The custom entertainment unit was designed to be fun, functional and in keeping with our elegant coastal theme. We emulated warmer tones from the kitchen, bringing through the oak timber veneer and vertical groove panels. With handleless cabinetry and the Blum Tip-On mechanical opening system, this section is the ultimate in modern utility.
Now, when it comes to laundries - simplicity is principal. Particularly in compact spaces.
Artedomus Yuki Border ceramic tiles, combined with a continuation of Manchester profiles in classic white keep the room as clean and crisp as the most enviable pressed sheets.
An injection of shine came in the form of the chrome Brodware City Stik tap and the slick Abey Lucia sink. Thin, refined Artedomus tiles are the perfect accent to the clear-cut, pristine design.
Perfectly fitting wardrobes are custom built in all three bedrooms, with classic white Polytec Calcutta profiles, bringing a sense of relaxed comfort to each room. The Kethy Bowl Knob handles reflect the natural timber accents from the kitchen and vanities, keeping it charmingly coastal.
The walk-in wardrobe space for the kids is rather magical. The simple doors on the outside open up to unveil heaps of drawers, shelves and hanging space, so there are (almost) no excuses for untidy bedrooms.
Having the perfect adaptable work from home spot was also big deal for us.
The study has game-changing storage with filing cabinet hide-aways and a generous linen cupboard for keeping things shipshape.
Versatility is essential, so a TV unit was integrated along with a play area for our smallest family members. We kept cabinetry simple, using the same Calcutta profiles and handles as the bedrooms, while introducing a light grey colour to invite in the light - perfect for a daily dose of vitamin D.
This glowing feeling was extended to the bathrooms, with George Fethers Timber Veneer vanities. White concrete benchtops helped create a stunning yet simple finish, not to mention the materials enviable properties which will make keeping it squeaky clean a breeze.
Our home is our happy place.
All of the materials, appliances and solutions used have helped us create a harmonious design that flows effortlessly in and out of every room.
