The country kitchen that just feels like home.
You can’t help but feel at home the minute you step into Cindi’s farmhouse country kitchen. It effortlessly exudes warmth with neutral tones and a cool pastel colour palette, specifically chosen to blend with nature - inviting the property’s surrounding landscape inside. But don’t be fooled by its playful rustic whimsy, this space is perfectly appointed for the modern cook, ready to serve up a family-sized feast.
Joining forces with architecture & interior design firm, Hindley & Co, Cindi wanted to emanate country charm without it feeling dated. Anne Hindley explains “[They] came to us to help them bring contemporary amenity to their home overlooking a beautiful vineyard, while retaining and amplifying its rural Country Style.” Collaborating with Cindi, the Wizards added a little magic to bring the kitchen design to life, beginning with cabinetry selection – always a focal point when it comes to the Vgroove style. Characterised as contemporary and fashionable, the clean, crisp vertical lines provide an elegant and cosy finish, while maximising the space. Which is exactly what this family were looking to achieve in their bustling home.
Polytec Calcutta Vgroove 2 pack doors are coated to match the Laminex colour Possum to introduce natural tones to the space. This muted green-brown with warm undertones was carefully chosen to be the primary colour as it can either blend in or standout, making it the perfect fit to flow throughout the home.
CDK Stone marble benchtops add to the natural feel, elevating its appeal with a touch of luxury and propelling the kitchen into the 21st century, just as Cindi had hoped. This is heightened by the mod-con appliances which slot readily into their respective zones. Keen to repurpose where possible, Cindi retained her stove and rangehood to make her footprint as sustainable as possible, while custom made cabinetry was designed to accommodate the existing features.
When it comes to design, simplicity is often the hardest thing to achieve. It should therefore come as no surprise that the details in this home have been meticulously thought out, down to the Laminex Honey Elm colour used on internal panels of the Hamptons style display cabinet. This eye for detail results in an effortless, modest and timeless look that will serve Cindi for years to come.
Bursting with texture, the design feels clean, yet intimate and grounded with Kethy Industrial Antique Brass handles and knobs accenting timber panelling in almost every room. Country vibes continue through the farmhouse sliding door and into the laundry, where paired back Laminex Possum doors are complimented by durable Laminex Fresh Snow benchtops, providing ample space for folding and sorting.
Strolling into the cosy lounge room, 2 pack painted doors weave the Laminex Possum colour into the space, snugly surrounding the fireplace with practical storage solutions. Topped (and tailed) with Echo Timber Messmate benchtops and kickers, recycled timber not only adds depth to the seating zone, but enabled the family to re-use what would otherwise be wasted. Perched just above are elegant rows of brightly painted 2 pack floating shelves, framing the wall and increasing storage space for page-turning novels and cherished family snaps.
Nods to country style continue throughout the home as you pass storage units in the hallway featuring the same Vgroove 2 pack doors, adorned with stylish Kethy Timber Bowl Knob Oak handles. Making your way through the house warm tones ricochet from room to room, inviting you to feel at ease.
Enviable walk in robes are fitted with wall-to-wall Laminex Possum drawers and Laminex White Stipple robes, making use of every inch of space. Vanities feature the same colour cabinetry, paired with a Corian benchtop in Witch Hazel which compliments the home’s earthy, organic feel.
Regardless of space, functionality was a priority in this design, and so each detail was planned out to ensure the right balance between aesthetic and practicality.
The transformation didn’t end with the house. Extending to the barn, Cindi took the opportunity to introduce a little design flare into the outbuilding with custom cabinetry. The playroom-come-mancave was upgraded with a combination of Polytec Prime Oak and Florentine Walnut cabinetry, with Kethy Rio Antique Brown handles, perfect for frequent use. The introduction of just a few unique pieces elevated the space and enabled games and odd-ends to be stored in style.
Like so many of our projects, we’re in love with this design. From storage to textures, tones and layout, each space fits together like a puzzle piece, building a beautiful picture that is the Country Style.
It may have just been renovated, but this house feels lived in - it feels like home. Which is exactly the vibe Cindi was looking for in their beloved family abode.

“We’ve worked together with Wood Wizards Kitchens on multiple cabinetry projects and knew we were in safe hands when it came to renovating our country property. We wanted a farmhouse country style kitchen with a natural feel that blended in with the outdoors. The thing I like most about working with Jordan as a kitchen designer is that he will listen and take on board an overall vision, and then help to work out the functionality and detail to get the right balance between design and practicality. For example, recommending drawers (instead of cupboards) and getting the perfect height and position for cooking with my utensils and condiments, to moving the cooktop off the island bench to make more room for preparing meals for our busy family. The addition of a Vgroove door profile and bronze handles felt busy at first, but Jordan convinced me it was the right balance to get the look I wanted. I love the open shelving above and next to my fridge and Hamptons style display cabinet for easy access to recipe books, wine and glassware. We also renovated our laundry, wall unit, vanities, wardrobes and other storage areas, where we carried similar finishes and warm colours to create continuity throughout. Based on our priorities, Jordan helped us to navigate where to spend our budget, and importantly where to save money.
