Exquisite design, but did it sell?

Kathy and Michael are builders with an eye for character, and stumbling upon this property situated just a stone's throw away from the crystal clear waters of Koonya Back Beach, they knew it had potential.

As experts in their field they understood the importance of bespoke kitchens, quality joinery and exquisite interior design for potential buyers, so when they reached out to us, we felt honoured. They wanted to emulate the fresh feel of the surrounding area through the whole house with seamless cabinetry, door profiles and benchtops.

In came the wizards to deliver.

As soon as you step into this rustic and spacious beach house it is evident that things just work. The ebb and flow of the rooms feel like a carefully planned journey with nods to the surrounding coastal environment.

Large sliding doors and windows allow natural light to pour in, which highlights the array of textures and materials within each room. The style is cohesive, balanced and minimal. Simple stuff, executed flawlessly.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, but in reality it's the heart, brain, muscle and soul. Whether it’s cooking, eating, working or entertaining guests, it is the epicentre of your living space and this means potential buyers will gravitate towards it. This kitchen had to stand out, and oh boy, does it deliver. Open-plan, timeless and simple, it’s certainly an impressive centrepiece.

Kathy and Michael wanted a seamless finish throughout so handleless cabinetry was the way forward. Minimal yet warm, the Polytec laminate in Nordic Oak brings a toasted hue to the room to create a welcoming atmosphere, brimming with character. Contrasting Polytec Venette Black panels bring depth to the palette and Kathy’s styling reflects this with gorgeously dark undertones.

This room plays beautifully with textures. The kitchen island has an irresistible rustic charm that compliments the sleek cabinetry and is an ideal spot for stylish kitchen items (or anything else you might need on hand). Benchtops boast matching WK-Quantum Quartz QuantumSix+ porcelain, which weaves its natural unique veins through the space like coastal waters – perfectly harmonising the kitchen’s organic materials.

Practicality is just as important as style, so appliances are fully integrated and drawer real estate is maximised with Blum intivo runner systems for the dreamy glide that is soft-close. Echoing the drawers, floating cabinetry above the sink creates a mirrored effect with ample storage for crockery and beloved family mementos. It sits comfortably above the window, framing the vibrant greenery from the outside world and glowing warmly with energy saving LED lights to set the mood.

Renovating and selling isn’t just about the house. It’s about the lifestyle. Bringing convenience and fun to a home is a sure way to sell it, so what better way than with a bespoke bar! We’ll cheers to that. The kitchen features a custom counter with cabinet doors and floating shelves, styled with dark, inky bottles of gin, ready for entertainment.

Beyond this is the Butlers pantry, continuing the seamless cabinetry and styled again with deep tones. It provides a place for food prep when playing hostess (with the mostest) and has oodles of storage with drawers and overhead shelving.

A black chalkboard created with V-groove panelling takes centre stage, bringing both creative flare and convenience to this playful nook. Even better? It even has another fully integrated dishwasher, making it an incredibly useful space for large gatherings. No dishwashing duties here…

As your eyes wander over to the open-plan living space, it becomes clear just how clever Kathy and Michael have been with their interior design.

V-Groove wall panelling in white and timber effortlessly merge living areas with the kitchen, and the textured flooring compliments the kitchen counter’s smooth Polytec Nordic Oak laminate.

As seasoned builders, this duo understands the importance of cultivating continuity throughout a home, and so the wizardry doesn’t end here. As you make your way, custom cabinetry continues to set the scene and elevate design.

Panelling is again introduced into the cosy TV room, this time in a darker tone to emphasize the intimacy of the space. The Polytec Nordic Oak laminate TV unit warms the room and is intentionally fitted with Blum movento drawers to house a plethora of tech equipment – keeping those pesky wires well hidden.

Polytec Nordic Oak is a chameleon-like material; woven into almost every room in the house, it has an uncanny ability to bring its own character and blend effortlessly into its surroundings. Despite being featured in the main bedroom, laundry room, wardrobes and wall units, it doesn’t feel over-used, instead it brings a sense of familiarity – piecing together like a dream home puzzle.

The ensuite bathroom exudes luxury in every sense of the word. Its calming colour palette inviting you to soak and bask in the rooms design glory. It feels uncluttered and elegant, aided by the Polytec V-Groove white panelling on the vanity, making the room feel clean without being sterile.

Everything about this beach house flows. Without question Kathy and Michael have created a home that is beautiful, practical and flawless. Choosing to invest in quality to create the vision they intended - and the result was a perfect fit.

Did the house sell? Absolutely, and with a very happy buyer and seller! Though we probably didn’t need to tell you that.

We couldn’t be more happy with our experience with Wood Wizards Kitchens. The personalised service was excellent and everyone was great to deal with from the initial design to drafting and installation. Their location in Bentleigh made it so convenient to pop in to look at samples and review our design. I’m so pleased with all our joinery and highly recommend Jordan and his team.
