An Elwood evolution
Bringing 90s decor into the 21st century…
After moving to their dream location of Elwood, Bev and Rodney partnered with Susie Miles Design to help create their bespoke new look; guided by Susie in selecting unique finishes to bring their grand vision to life. Cue, the wizards.
Transforming the interiors one room at a time, we worked closely with the trio to refurbish the 90s style townhouse from top to bottom. The first stop? The kitchen. After all, it is our specialty... 🧙
Infused with contemporary style, the major kitchen and cabinetry renovation welcomes in a burst of light, brightening and somehow expanding the space, making it feel larger. The 2 Pack doors in Dulux White Polar Quarter Satin play an important role, reflecting sunshine back around the room, gleaming with their clean and crisp finish.
Adding a little design flare, as well as the Bev and Rodney’s personality into the kitchen, you can see unique elements carefully woven into the scene - from the Cult stools to the statement Alessi kettle (which we fell a little bit in love with).
Continuing to add their own stamp, the elegant champagne-brass aluminium coloured cabinetry from That Metal Company brings another dimension to the room, further accented by statement matt black handles and tapware that playfully pay homage to existing rails and window frames.
Inspired by Calacatta Gold marble, the Cosentino Dekton Entzo benchtops tip their hat to the metallic tones too, with delicate golden veins echoing the golden brass hues.
As is the case with most modern families - storage is no longer a nice to have, but rather a non-negotiable. When it came to Bev and Rodney's home, space was high on their priority list and so every conceivable centimetre was meticulously planned (even down to the kickers, which were used as drawers in the kitchen island bench). Amidst its sleek finish - minimal design paves the way for cleverly compact storage, which is hidden just beneath the surface in almost every room. From custom built-in window seats to expansive vanities and office corners - there is a dedicated place for everything.
Even kitchen cabinetry has been elongated to meet the ceiling, creating additional places for all the things you need close, but not on display.
As we wander upstairs, themes effortlessly flow from room to room, intertwining the contemporary style throughout the home, creating a truly coherent living space.
Practical, stylish, welcoming - this home office ticks all our boxes. Bright white is swapped out for Polytec Notaio Walnut benchtops, file drawers and edging, and Nikpol Onyx Grey laminate doors; bringing warmth to the room that is only heightened by the glow of integrated Hafele LED strip lights.
Golden features, in the form of Kethy brass radio knob handles, are continued from here into the vanity, where familiar champagne metal cabinetry makes a reappearance.
With every project, we are big fans of the little details, and this house is a clear example of clever design. Susie deliberately introduced subtle accents throughout the house, such as the playful yet elegant, Designer Doorware handles. Not only is the clean semi-circular geometry equally captivating and inviting, but once again we see the golden touch...
When it came to the master bedroom, luxury was key. Looking to create a welcoming space to retreat to at the end of a long day, textures and tones shift to a more muted palette, making this a room you look forward to spending time in.
Adding a stylish, yet practical feature, a custom-made built-in window seat was created using Polytec Oberon profile 2 pack painted drawers, softened with teal velvet seat cushions (designed by Susie Miles Design) that transform this everyday storage unit into a calming reading nook.
Sophisticated and refined, this home transformation is not lacking in comfort. Each room has been softened with subtle design touches that bring warmth and make this house truly feel like home. Afterall, that's just what Bev and Rodney were looking for in their Elwood abode.
